There is now an app for calling one of the 155 taxis registered in Cannes: Taxi Club. Taxis can be booked from abroad, you can arrange to be picked up at the airport and you can even reserve a hotel room on it.
When in Cannes the nearest free taxi will respond and you can track its arrival via your phone.

There are taxi ranks, among other places, at the bus and the railway stations – it is recommended you ask the price before getting in. Taxis in Cannes have meters - make sure they are put on. The people carriers are always more expensive. Taxis are regulated by the local Mairie but they are considered expensive, even for the Cote d'Azur.
Taxis can also be booked for tours of Cannes and trips to various towns in the area. They have drivers who can speak various languages.
BEWARE when ordering a taxi from your hotel. Some order you a chauffeur-driven limousine at two to three times the cost of a taxi. Always check the price before getting in.
The cost of a taxi to and from the Airport is now regulated and costs 80 euros from/to Cannes.
