Juan-les-Pins Tourist Information

The French Riviera summer season was born here
It was once the summer haunt of the rich and famous including Rudolf Valentino, who lived at Chateau de Golfe Juan overlooking the port. The Fitzgeralds in the 1920s welcomed Picasso, Josephine Baker, King Umberto of Italy and Edith Piaf to their home the Belles Rives, now a five star hotel. Other celebrities, including Cocteau, Estee Lauder and Charlie Chaplin, stayed at Le Provencal hotel while Le Juana was favoured by Ella Fitzgerald.
The town's casino is famous for throwing out Coco Chanel for daring to wear "pants".

Juan Les Pins Juan Les Pins, now part of Antibes, is a buzzing holiday town and is rightly famous for its summer jazz festival. The rich and famous still flock here in summer but now to the Eden Roc hotel on the Cap d'Antibes. There are fabulous shops in Juan to while away the hours if you get bored with lying on the beach. Did you know... water skiing started in Juan The beaches at Juan include eight demountable private beaches and restaurants open until 15 October. There is one public beach dedicated to sports and physical activities. Four thousand tonnes of sand has been imported to widen the 23 km of beaches and there are 24 people to keep them clean. There are two public beaches - Richelieu and Garoupe - where you can hire sunbeds and parasols at reasonable prices. There are also dedicated disabled areas. In addition there is a new Handiplage next to the new Sailing centre And the nightlife is famous and open to all, including the Eden Casino. Young people flock here especially to the bars and clubs. Juan itself is fairly quiet - dare I say dead? - in the winter but still nice to visit. |
