CANNES - Open Air Sports Capital
The town organises and sponsors lots of sporting events including the Nice - Cannes Marathon and the Cannes half Marathon, international Triathlon, Cannes - Ile St Marguerite swimming race, international show jumping, regattas, beach volley ball and petanque international competitions among a host of other events - 270 in all.
Cannes also boasts some great sports facilities including an open air Olympic sized heated pool as well as the indoor/open air pool at Montfleury. There are two municipal tennis centres - again at Montfleury and the other at La Bocca, the Garden Tennis Club, and there is a private tennis club in lower Californie. There are boules pistes throughout the town with the main ones at La Bocca, behind the market, Palm Beach and Les Allees in the town centre. Lessons can be organised at Les Allees for a small fee, equipment provided.
Water sports of all kinds are available but Jetskis are not allowed in the Bay of Cannes. You can hire a boat, go fishing, water paddle, kitesurf, scuba dive or just watch the yachts go by... |
