On the red carpet...
Sixty meters of red carpet are used to cover the famous 24 steps at the Palais des Festivals. In the past the carpet was changed three times a day during the festival with a total of 2km used. In 2021 this was cut by 50% and only one km was used to help save the planet.
The president of the festival Iris Knobloch - the first female president in the Festival's history and former boss of WarnerMedia - greets the stars and other guests at the top of the steps. She is joined by the mayor of Cannes, currently David Lisnard
